Fire Crews Get Control Of Grass Fire Burning In Evans

EVANS, Colo. (CBS4)- Fire crews worked to get control of a grass fire burning in Evans. Evacuations ordered in the area were lifted after a couple of hours.

The fire started at 49th Street west of 47th Avenue in Evans which is south of Greeley. Several fire departments responded to the fire which was putting out a lot of smoke.

Evacuations ordered for 25 to 40 homes in a one-mile radius surrounding the fire from Dos Rios and Lago Drives in Evans were lifted about 3:30 p.m.

The fire burned 160 acres on all grassland.

No structures had burned and no one was hurt in the fire.

Some roads have been closed to traffic because of poor visibility.

The fire is human caused.
