CU Hoops Star Spencer Dinwiddie Tries Out For Team USA

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Before University of Colorado basketball star Spencer Dinwiddie starts working on getting the Buffs back to the big dance, he has one more basketball related matter to take care of.

The CU junior has been at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs trying out for Team USA for the World University Games in July.

Dinwiddie has his sights set on wearing the red, white and blue.

"It's the biggest honor. Besides making the NBA, everybody's goal as basketball player, everybody else's dream is to play on Team USA," Dinwiddie said. "It's the highest honor possible trying to win a gold medal, so I'm going to try to make the team and accomplish that. Every time I put on the jersey and every time I go out, you know, I'm representing the Dinwiddie name and the Colorado Buffaloes, and hopefully Team USA now."

The final cuts come this weekend.
