Police Arrest Couple Accused Of Series Of Burglaries

DENVER (CBS4) - Authorities have arrested two people in connection with a series of burglaries in the Denver metro area.

Charles Darrow, 45, and Valerie Darrow, 44, were taken into custody last Thursday after allegedly attempting a burglary.

According to police, agencies across the west metro area have recently experienced a significant increase in burglaries of sheds and out-buildings.

"The thieves were targeting lawn equipment (lawn mowers, leaf blowers, trimmers) from the sheds at local churches and residences," police said in a statement.

Detectives from Denver and Wheat Ridge worked together over several weeks to locate the suspects..

"On Thursday … detectives located the vehicle and the two suspects. The vehicle was followed to the area of 49th Avenue and Knox Court. Detectives immediately recognized the two suspects who were preparing to commit another residential burglary. They immediately apprehended the suspects before they could victimize anyone else," police said.

The Darrows are both charged with second-degree burglary.

"Detectives were able connect the suspects to over 20 burglary cases and recovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen lawn equipment," police said.
