DENVER (CBS4) – She gave the ultimate sacrifice serving her city, now the legacy of Celena Hollis will live on at the police station she called home.
Family and friends joined police officers on Monday at Denver Police Department’s District Two for the unveiling of four memorials to honor Hollis.
Hollis was shot and killed one year ago trying to break up a fight at a City Park Jazz concert.
One of the memorials is a bench with her name engraved on it.
Hollis’ daughter Amyre was at Monday’s ceremony and smiled next to her mother’s mailbox.
Fellow officers say they will never forget Hollis’ dedication and passion towards protecting her community.
