TORONTO (AP) – Right-hander Roy Oswalt will make his first start of the season for the Colorado Rockies on Thursday at Washington.

Manager Walt Weiss confirmed the move Tuesday. He said he does not expect to use a six-man rotation.

The 35-year-old Oswalt hasn’t pitched in the majors since Oct. 2, when he was with the Texas Rangers. He’s also played for Houston and Philadelphia.

A three time All-Star, Oswalt has a career record of 163-96, including a 4-0 mark and 2.25 ERA in five starts at Coors Field. He signed a minor league deal with Colorado on May 2 and made five starts at Double-A Tulsa.

The Rockies, who have lost four of six, entered play Tuesday a half-game behind first-place Arizona in the NL West.
