Rockies Place RHP Escalona On 15-day DL

DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies placed right-hander Edgmer Escalona on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation and recalled lefty Josh Outman from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

The moves were retroactive to Monday.

Escalona is 1-2 with a 4.18 ERA in 21 appearances this season. The righty has been bothered by the elbow injury for the past week.

In Sunday's game against San Diego, he allowed three runs and two homers and retired just one batter before leaving. An MRI on Monday showed inflammation but no other issues with his elbow.

This is Outman's second stint with the Rockies after beginning the year at Triple-A. Outman was first recalled on April 19 and appeared in 19 games for the Rockies, going 2-0 with a 4.94 ERA.

The Rockies have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
