Rockies Activate LHP Francis From 15-day DL

DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies have activated left-hander Jeff Francis from the 15-day disabled list and designated right-hander Jon Garland for assignment.

The team also recalled outfielder Tyler Colvin from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday and optioned left-hander Josh Outman to the Sky Sox.

Francis was scheduled to start against San Diego on Saturday night as he steps into the rotation for right-hander Tyler Chatwood, who's dealing with a triceps ailment. Francis started the season 2-3 with a 6.00 ERA before going on the DL with a left groin strain.

Garland was 4-6 with a 5.82 ERA in his first season with the Rockies.

Colvin was brought up with outfielder Michael Cuddyer sidelined with strained ribs. Cuddyer said he hopes to be available to play in a few days.
