Denver Firefighter Arrested In Online Sex Sting

EDGEWATER, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities in Jefferson County say they arrested a 59-year-old Denver firefighter overnight after an online sex sting.

The DA's office says Ronald Michael Asciutto, of Denver, showed up at a location in Edgewater where he thought he would be meeting with an underage girl with the intention of having sex. They said he had been exchanging frequent sexually explicit text messages with the person he thought was the girl in the hours leading up to the arranged meeting. The "girl" was actually an investigator with the DA's Child Sex Offender Internet Investigations unit.

Asciutto also asked the "girl" to send him naked pictures of herself, according to arrest documents.

Officials said Asciutto arrived at the meeting place in a Denver Fire Department vehicle but then drove away for some reason. They then arrested at him at his home.

Asciutto has been placed on leave without pay by the Denver Fire Department.

Asciutto faces tentative charges of Internet luring, Internet sexual exploitation of a Child and attempted sexual assault of a child.
