CU President Benson To Meet With Lawmakers Over Higher Ed Support

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) – University of Colorado President Bruce Benson wants to know if Colorado voters would approve a tax hike to support higher education.

Benson says the additional revenue is needed because state funding for higher education is down $163 million over the last four years. He wants to know if there’s support for either a ballot initiative or legislative action to raise taxes in 2014.

Benson plans to host a series of meetings with state lawmakers later this month to gauge their opinion.
