Former Preschool Worker Pleads Guilty, Admits To Years Of Distributing Child Porn

DENVER (CBS4) - A former preschool worker has not only pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography, he admitted to doing it for years in court on Thursday.

David Moe, 46, had worked at the Paddington Station preschool in Denver. He accepted a plea agreement in federal court. He faces five to 20 years in prison when he's sentenced.

A judge made sure Moe knew exactly what he was pleading guilty to. He asked him to explain what he did in front of the parents of the children he cared for as well as his own mother and father.

"I had a program on my computer, a peer-to-peer app," he confessed in court. "I was able to download files, child porn movies or photos, from others. Those others could download from me also. I had been doing it for quite a while, so I had quite a few files on my computer."

"Quite a while" turned out to be nearly 10 years during a time when he was an administrator at Paddington Station.

"It's a nightmare, it's very disturbing," a parent who didn't want to be identified said.

The parent wants to see Moe punished severely.

"I'd like to see the max. If he could get the max that would be great in my eyes. I would like to see him get life for what he did – horrible," the parent said.

Moe's sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place in September. Two other related counts have been dismissed.

"I would rather see a trial, rather see him sit there and face this. Him pleading guilty, he is taking the easy way," the parent said.

It's unclear if Moe victimized any of the toddlers he cared for or any in general. He could have to pay around $3,000 to any victims that come forward.

Moe's parents listened to their son describe how he got the child porn videos and pictures over the past 10 years. They didn't want to comment, but a family member said they'll have more to say after sentencing, which is scheduled for Sept. 10.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story indicated that Paddington Station was a day care facility when it is in fact a school.
