Rep. Gardner Passes On U.S. Senate Challenge
DENVER (AP) — A prominent Congressman is passing up a chance to challenge Senator Mark Udall.
Cory Gardner was considered the Republican party's best potential candidate against Udall, who is up for re-election next year. But Tuesday night Gardner told the Denver Post he was not going to run.
Gardner is viewed as a rising star in Republican leadership in the House of Representatives. Udall is considered fairly secure and would be hard to unseat. There are no Republicans who have announced they will run against the Senator. Possible candidates include former Congressman Bob Beauprez and Colorado State Treasurer Walker Stapleton.
