Police Discourage Backpacks At Bolder Boulder Run
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Spectators and participants at the Bolder Boulder Memorial Day run are being asked to leave their bags and backpacks at home.
Police say if people must bring bags, they should be packed lightly and be kept in sight at all times. Participants also can expect an increased law enforcement presence at the finish line at Folsom Field on the University of Colorado campus.
The request to leave bags at home comes at a time when large race organizers across the country are setting up extra security measures after the Boston marathon bombings.
Boulder Police Chief Mark Beckner, citing the Boston bombings, says law enforcement agencies are working together to keep the 10K run safe and enjoyable.
