Women Earn Less Than Men, Smarter About Money

DENVER (CBS4)- Women typically earn 23 percent less than men but they're smarter about the money they do have. That's according to a new study from Experian.

Women on average have higher credit scores and carry less credit card debt than their male counterparts.

The average man carries $26,227 in debt from credit cards, personal loans and auto loans compared to $25,095 on average for a woman.

Men also take out larger home mortgages than women; $187,245 for a man versus $178,140 for a woman.

According to the survey women are also quicker to admit their financial mistakes than men are.
