Suspicious Package Cleared After Bomb Squad Investigation

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver have cleared a suspicious package after they evacuated an apartment building near 9th and Downing on Thursday afternoon while bomb squads investigated.

That package was determined to be a homemade alarm system. Residents were allowed to return home at 5 p.m.

Police were called to the apartment building at 930 Downing next to the Dazbog Coffee and across the street from a King Soopers just after 4 p.m. on reports of a suspicious red box.

Officers called the bomb squad to investigate.

Police evacuated the apartment building.

Employees of a restoration company told CBS4 that there had been a fire in the apartment building recently. Most of the units remain evacuated after that fire. The restoration company is cleaning out the other units. That's when they found something suspicious and called police.
