Taxis On Patrol Puts More Wheels On The Streets

DENVER (CBS4)- There are about to be a lot more eyes on the lookout now that Denver's Taxis on Patrol program has added more wheels on the street.

The program encourages cab drivers to look out for suspicious behavior and report it to police.

Over the past two years drivers have called in more than 2,000 tips about suspicious behavior.

Now limo drivers, pedal cabs and truck drivers are getting in on the program.

"If we see someone dropping a backpack. If we see someone taking pictures of security cameras. If we see someone attempting to time law enforcement response. Then we need to understand that we also need to call in that type of suspicious behavior as well," said Taxis on Patrol founder Larry Stevenson.

During Tuesday's announcement, six cab drivers were also honored for helping fight crime by calling in tips.
