Man Convicted Of Murder In Motel Slaying
BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)– A man has been convicted of first-degree murder for the killing of a woman at a motel last summer.
Michael Earl Smith was convicted on Friday of first-degree murder and sexual assault in the death of Krista Ann Boma at the Valli-Hi Motel at 7320 Pecos St. in Adams County.
Police said Boma, 34, was found severely beaten and strangled to death in a room on July 12, 2012. Smith, 29, strangled Boma with his hands and a belt.
Boma was the daughter of an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Denver, James Boma.
Boma had danced at several Adams County strip clubs under the names “Petra,” “Sophia” and “Loren.”
Smith had been a transient also known as “Mellow,” who had apparently also been staying at the Valli Hi motel.
Smith will be sentenced Wednesday afternoon.
