BOULDER, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - The foothills were alive with the sound of music, as Dame Julie Andrews spoke to the University of Colorado, Boulder's more than 6,000 graduates on Friday.

The actress who starred in stage and film musicals including "The Sound of Music" and "Mary Poppins" delivered the commencement address at CU Boulder's Folsom Field.

The 77-year-old actress, who won an Academy Award for her role as Mary Poppins, is also a children's book author and an advocate for the arts and education.

Attendees were asked to arrive early because of tighter security than in past years.

At one point during her keynote speech Andrews told graduates to "go out and kick butt."
