Stolen Car Crashes In Thornton Intersection

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4)- A stolen car smashed into another vehicle at a busy intersection in Thornton early Thursday morning. The crash sent the suspect, passengers and those in the other vehicle to the hospital.

Police in Thornton rushed to the intersection of Thornton Parkway and Washington Street about 5:24 a.m. Thursday to assist the Northglenn Police Department with the crash.

That crash left innocent bystanders injured in the crash and rollover.

Officers with Northglenn were trying to stop a stolen vehicle after the driver eluded officers during the initial stop.

That's when police said the driver of that stolen sedan ran a red light and struck a Jeep SUV, which ended up on its roof.

The driver of the stolen car tried to run away from officers but police caught up with him a short time later.

The driver and passengers of the stolen sedan were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The occupants of the SUV were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The driver will be placed in police custody and charges will be filed based on the outcome of the investigation.
