East High Hit & Run Suspect's Plea Hearing Postponed

DENVER (CBS4) - A woman accused in a hit-and-run that seriously injured an East High School student had her plea hearing postponed on Monday.

Erin Jackson's lawyers asked for more time to enter a plea. The defense says they need the time to gather information and prepare for litigation.

On two occasions inside the courtroom on Monday Jackson, 31, could be seen trying to make direct eye contact with the victim's mother, making very deliberate and emotional stares. The victim's mother did not engage Jackson.

Jackson, a fifth-grade teacher in Aurora, sprinted past media cameras and had nothing to say in court.

Deyondrah "Dee" Bridgeman, 17, is still hospitalized with serious head injuries. She was crossing East Colfax Avenue near East High School on her way to class when she was hit by a car that kept driving.

Jackson will be back in court June 24.
