Colorado Lawmakers Consider Corrections Pay Issues

DENVER (AP) - The Senate Judiciary Committee is considering a bill to address concerns about paycheck fairness and accountability for corrections workers.

Because their profession is 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Colorado corrections officers can be required to work double shifts without getting overtime and there is little accountability for hours they actually worked.

The bill being heard Monday would provide better accounting of officers' hours, pay, leave, and time off for long work weeks.
