Colorado Man Critical After Wrong-Way Crash In Nevada

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol says one driver is badly hurt and a wrong-way driver is dead after efforts to signal him to stop failed and his vehicle slammed head-on into another car on U.S. 95 southeast of Las Vegas.

Trooper Jeremie Elliott says the crash happened about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday near Auto Show Drive in Henderson.

Elliott says witnesses saw a black Fiat with California license plates driving north in the southbound lanes for several miles, and troopers tried to get the driver's attention before the crash.

The Fiat driver died when the car hit a blue Mazda with Colorado license plates.

The male driver of the Mazda was taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas in critical condition.

The crash snarled the southbound freeway until about 7 a.m.
