Colorado State Forest Service Names New Director

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — The Colorado State Forest Service has a new director.

Colorado State University says CSU alumnus Mike Lester will fill the post July 1 — replacing Deputy State Forester Joe Duda, who has been the interim state forester since March 2012. The previous state forester, Jeff Jahnke, retired last year after seven years with the agency

Lester, currently the assistant state forester for the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, says he plans to visit Colorado before he starts his new job.

The Colorado State Forest Service is an outreach agency of CSU's Warner College of Natural Resources. The college's website says the forest service provides landowners with technical forestry assistance and outreach through 17 district offices across Colorado.
