DENVER (CBS4)- A Howler monkey escaped from its exhibit at the Denver Zoo on Tuesday.
The monkey chewed through her steel mesh enclosure inside the Tropical Discovery exhibit. Rose is a 17-year-old Howler monkey.
The staff found her in a planter alongside her exhibit. She was returned to her secure exhibit where staff could keep an eye on her.
Guests were escorted out of the building and nobody made contact with the animal. The building was closed to visitors for the rest of the day.
The Tropical Discovery exhibit may be closed again on Wednesday while repairs were made to Rose’s enclosure.
