ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (AP) - Rocky Mountain National Park officials say a Colorado man is presumed dead after a fall that was believed to have occurred during an avalanche in the park, and his female climbing partner is injured.

Park officials say preliminary reports are that the two were caught in an avalanche Sunday evening while descending Blitzen Ridge on 13,514-foot Ypsilon Mountain. Rangers started looking for them Monday morning after they were reported overdue. They found 45-year-old Lisa Foster of Estes Park with numerous, undisclosed injuries Monday afternoon and were transporting her from the area via toboggan Monday night.

Park officials say 43-year-old David Laurienti of Estes Park is believed to have died from injuries in a fall. Rangers planned to find and recover his body when weather conditions allow.
