Antero Reservoir (credit: parks.state.co.us)
FAIRPLAY, Colo. (CBS4) – This May the Antero Reservoir will be drained to save water supply because of the drought.
The reservoir is located southwest of Fairplay. It has the highest evaporation rate of any of Denver Water’s reservoirs. The water will then be stored in Cheesman and Eleven Mile reservoirs until it can be used.
Because of the drought, Denver Water has announced severe watering restrictions. Denver Water will declare a Stage 2, or severe drought, on March 27. That means mandatory water restrictions.
Homeowners will only be allowed to water their lawns two days a week and violators will face stiff fines.
