WESTMINSTER, Colo. (AP/CBS4) – Five juveniles believed to be connected to guns that were found on the grounds of Standley Lake High School have been charged.
The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office announced the charges Monday, about three weeks after three hunting rifles and a shotgun were found near the Westminster school’s athletic fields. Investigators determined the guns were from a burglary of a home next to the school, and there was no threat to students or staff.
Two boys, ages 15 and 16, face charges of theft by receiving. The other three boys — two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old — have been charged with second-degree burglary, theft and possession of deadly weapons on school grounds.
The teenagers are scheduled to appear in court March 20.
Standley Lake High School is located at 9300 W 104th Ave. in Westminster and is in the JeffCo School District.
