Next Generation Of EpicMix Focuses On Ski School

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) — The fourth generation of Vail Resorts Inc.'s popular EpicMix online and mobile application will focus on ski school.

EpicMix launched in 2010, using technology embedded on lift tickets and passes to track the vertical feet that visitors rode at Vail Resorts' ski areas. Visitors could earn digital pins for their achievements and share results online.

The second generation added the option to share or buy photos snapped by on-mountain photographers. This winter, Vail Resorts added EpicMix Racing, so that customers at resort racecourses could compare their results to Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn.

The Broomfield, Colo.-based company said Wednesday that the fourth generation of EpicMix will be EpicMix Academy, allowing ski school students of all ages to earn digital pins for completing certain skills and classes and track their progress.
