DENVER (CBS4) – A Denver radio talk show host is encouraging those who can’t attend hearings on the gun control measures that are before the Colorado Senate this week to to honk their horns outside the Capitol.
“I think it makes the legislature aware that other people than those testifying have a vested interest in this whole issue,” said Michael Brown of KHOW radio.
Brown told CBS4 he doesn’t expect new gun control legislation “would do anything” to prevent mass shootings like the one in Newtown, Conn., and in Aurora last year.
“I think these bills are feel-good bills, they do nothing to prevent or diminish crime,” Brown said. “If somebody truly wants to harm one of us they will find a way to do that, no matter how much mental health capacity is there to help them. No matter how many call centers.”
Family members of those who lost loved ones in the Newtown and Aurora shootings will be among those who will be testifying before state senators this week.
