County Where Redwine Disappeared Continues To Devote Many Resources To Case
DURANGO, Colo. (CBS4) - Since two episodes of the Dr. Phil show devoted to the disappearance of Dylan Redwine aired this week, the local tipline in La Plata County has received hundreds of calls.
Officials with the La Plata County Sheriff say most of them haven't yet been checked into because of the sheer volume. But they said from the tips that have been sorted through, none of it has been very useful.
Even before the show, tips on Dylan's possible whereabouts were still coming in regularly.
"I don't think a day goes by where someone doesn't call in and say 'You know I was just thinking I saw this or talked to this person, or someone said they thought they saw someone,' " Sgt. Dan Bender told CBS4 recently.
Investigators say they have a wealth of evidence, but still no leads and no named suspect.
"We have gathered so many little pieces of evidence, it's kind of like a jigsaw puzzle and now you're just looking for that one piece to bring everything together," Bender said.
Two weeks ago Bender said they had five investigators following up on tips. Search crews also have been searching around the Vallecito area where Redwine disappeared last November.
Mark Redwine, Dylan's father, and Elaine Redwine, Dylan's mom, appeared together on the Dr. Phil show on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday. While they clearly have strong dislike towards each other, both say they are desperate to find Dylan.
On Wednesday's episode a segment was shown in which Mark Redwine agreed to take a polygraph test but then the test was called off after a few questions because he revealed that he wasn't feeling well enough to do the test. The older son of the two also appeared on the show and accused his father of not doing anything to try to help find Dylan.

Mark Redwine told CBS4 two weeks ago he was responsible for bringing in the latest search team, which includes K-9s.
