DENVER (CBS4)- Fighting crime is going social in Denver thanks to a custom website that encourages police to post crime activity specific to each neighborhood.
Denver Police Chief Robert White unveiled the new “Nextdoor” crime prevention program.
The website also connects neighbors so they can create an online community, watch alerts, share concerns and post neighborhood events.
White said a better connected community is a safer community.
“From my perspective this is a great multiplier. This is going to help us ensure that we will have a great relationship with the community at large to work with the police department that will ultimately make our communities even safer,” said White.
Only those who can prove their residency can join. Those interested in setting up a Nextdoor group can call their local Denver Police Department district.
