DENVER (CBS4) – One of two Denver police officers fired over a videotaped beating is getting his job back.
Security video showed officers throwing Michael DeHerrera to the ground outside a nightclub in April of 2009. The two officers were accused of lying during the investigation into the arrest.
A civil service hearing panel ruled Randy Murr did not lie about his involvement. The panel says Murr’s firing was inappropriate.
Murr will be reinstated with back pay and benefits. The second officer, Devin Sparks, will not be rehired.
