GREELEY, Colo. (AP) – Derrick Barden scored 21 points and pulled down 14 rebounds Saturday night to lead Northern Colorado to its third straight victory, 78-64 over Sacramento State.
Tate Unruh added 20 points and Tim Huskisson had 15 for the Bears (9-15, 7-9 Big Sky), who shot 52 percent from the field and committed just seven turnovers.
Cody Demps had 13 points, and Konner Veteto chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds, for the Hornets (12-12, 7-9 Big Sky).
Northern Colorado never trailed, scoring the game’s first four points en route to a 45-27 halftime lead. The Bears increased their advantage to as many as 20 in the second half before Sacramento State rallied, but the Hornets couldn’t get within single digits.
The Bears now hold a 10-4 lead in the all-time series between the schools.
