DENVER (CBS4) – A shooting on Denver’s west side led to a standoff between police and several suspects Sunday afternoon.
The SWAT team was called out to the 200 block of Hooker Street. Police convinced five men into giving themselves up after almost three hours of keeping officers at bay.
Detectives are trying to find out who among the group may have shot a man.
“We need to talk to the individuals, find out what they were fighting over, what was the beef about, what was the confrontation about, that we don’t know,” Sonny Jackson with Denver police said. “We do know it escalated to the point where somebody did pull a gun and shoot the other parties.”
After being shot in the back the man walked to a nearby fire station at 5th and Julian and was rushed to a hospital. He has been listed in serious condition.
