Man Charged In Shooting That Killed Dog

DENVER (CBS4)- A man accused of attempted murder and cruelty to animals after a shooting spree outside his home has been formally charged.

Todd Shelton has been charged with attempted second degree murder, illegal discharge of a firearm and cruelty to animals.

Tara Siegfried has also been charged in connection with the incident, reckless endangerment and prohibited use of a weapon.

The charges allege that on Feb. 12 Sheldon and Siegfried were firing guns outside their home in the 1700 block of Verbena Street. In the course of the shooting Sheldon's dog was shot and killed.

Sheldon remains in custody on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to be formally advised of the charges on Feb. 20 in a Denver County Courtroom.

Siegfried has been released from custody on a $750 bond and is scheduled to appear in a Denver County Courtroom on Feb. 28 for arraignment.
