DENVER (Denver Business Journal) – Months of simmering tensions over Denver’s hope to develop an “Airport City” at Denver International Airport led to a summit meeting Wednesday, comprised of six officials representing Denver, Adams County, Aurora and Commerce City.
Adams County officials have complained that Denver Mayor Michael Hancock’s DIA development plan, unveiled last summer, violates the 1988 intergovernmental agreement between the two. The agreement allowed Denver to annex Adams County land into the city for DIA, and said that future development would take place off-airport in the surrounding jurisdictions.
