DENVER (CBS4) – The Colorado Avalanche needed some time off and the schedule maker cooperated. They haven’t played since losing to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.
The time off has given them plenty of practice time to try and figure out what’s gone wrong the past two weeks. The argument could be made that they haven’t been the same since Gabriel Landeskog got hurt. The captain didn’t practice Sunday and won’t play Monday night against the Phoenix Coyotes.
The players agree they needed a break after losing five of their last seven games.
“I think we can regroup a little bit. I don’t think we played bad hockey five on five, but we have to bring more energy to our games and execute a little more,” right wing P.A. Parenteau said.
“It’s been tough to really get some good practice time in. We’ve played every other day for the past two weeks or more,” center Matt Duchene said. “Now that we can get some more practice we can address some areas we need to be better in.”
The Avs take on the Coyotes Monday at 7 p.m. at the Pepsi Center.
