DENVER (CBS4)- Xcel Energy is warning customers about scammers posing as representatives with the company to try to get personal information.
Xcel said people are being told they overpaid their bills and a credit card or bank account number is needed to refund their money.
Impersonators have also told customers their meter is broken and immediate payment is needed for repairs.
Xcel said if customers have any concerns about the validity of an employee or service person to call the company right away for confirmation.
