DENVER (CBS4)- The Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit is just a few days away from opening at the Denver Art Museum.
The exhibit features 53 of her works including 15 rarely seen pieces. The exhibit chronicles her artwork created in New Mexico.
“She began spending the summers in New Mexico in 1929. And immediately she felt this is her landscape. There is a quote at the beginning of the exhibition ‘I got to New Mexico that was mine. As soon as I saw it that was my country,’” said Denver Art Museum Director Christoph Heinrich.
Among those rarely seen works are O’Keeffe’s paintings of Hopi spiritual figures.
The exhibit opens Sunday and continues through April 28.
