Police Arrest Bank Robber Who Threw Out Loot

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Lakewood captured a bank robbery suspect who was throwing money away as he ran from police.

Lakewood Police Department spokesperson Bonnie Martin said the robbery happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Bank located in the 14000 block of West Colfax Avenue near the Colorado Mills Mall.

The robber was running away and ditched some of the cash, in ones, 20s and 50s near Colfax and East Old Golden Road.

"There was someone who had seen the suspect across the street on the other side of Colfax who had called in and at this time the suspect is at large and they are actively looking for him," said Martin.

That is where police searched for any sign of the bank robber. There were 10 units called to the scene and a K-9 unit. The suspect was arrested just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
