MacIntyre Keeps Buffs Commitments

BOULDER, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - Mike MacIntyre's first recruiting class at the University of Colorado lacks star power and big names, and the Buffaloes' new coach insists that doesn't bother him at all.

After all, his classes at San Jose State were similarly nondescript and he turned that program around in three seasons, taking a team that went 1-12 in 2010 to 11-2 last year.

Nobody's expecting that quick of a turnaround at Colorado, where Jon Embree was fired following the worst season in school history, but MacIntyre's plan is to begin making steady progress right away.

His recruiting wish list included keeping the 10 players who had committed to Colorado upon his arrival - and he was successful - beefing up both lines, adding speed at the skill positions and bulk at tight end.

McIntyre told CBS4's Gary Miller he's excited about signing quarterback Sefo Liufau.

"He's a really good football player, can really run, really athletic," McIntyre said. "He averages a double-double in basketball. But most of all he's just a phenomenal young man, had no ego and is just a tremendous leader. We're just really excited about getting him here."

Only three of CU's recruits are from Colorado, but McIntyre looks to change that.

"We've already started. We've already been to 52 high schools in Colorado these last three weeks while we were working on everything else," he said. "We've already offered five juniors in Colorado and we're going to basically go to every single school in May."
