Body Of Missing Hiker From Texas Found Near Bear Lake

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (CBS4) - Rocky Mountain National Park officials believe they have located the body of a man who went missing in the park.

Crews had been searching for Troy Green, 39, in the Bear Lake area since Friday. The area has received about nine inches of snow since last Wednesday.

Tuesday afternoon two people who were snowshoeing north and west of Bear Lake told officials about a body located in a thick timbered area, approximately 100 feet off a summer hiking trail.

"The Larimer County Coroner's office will not release positive identification until completion of an autopsy," Kyle Patterson with Rocky Mountain National Park said in a statement. "However, it is believed that the body is that of Troy Green."

Green's wife called police when she didn't hear from him on Friday. Park rangers found a vehicle that matched his rental car.

The area where Green was found had been previously searched.

"Green's body was against a tree and he was wearing dark-colored clothing," Patterson said.

Green is from San Antonio, Texas. He was in town for a conference in Denver.
