Attorney With Death Penalty Case Experience To Lead Prosecution In Aurora Theater Shooting Case

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)– An attorney with experience in death penalty cases will lead the prosecution in the Aurora theater shooting case.

Suspected gunman James Holmes is accused of opening fire inside a crowded theater at the Century 16 theater in Aurora during a showing of “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns” on July 20.

Holmes is scheduled to enter a plea in March.

Daniel Zook has served as a top prosecutor in Colorado Springs for 23 years.

He has prosecuted four death penalty cases and one resulted in a death sentence.
