Behind The Scenes Tour Of Union Station Makeover Reveals Hotel, Restaurant Space

DENVER (CBS4)- The makeover continues at Union Station which includes replacing old office space with a hotel and restaurant.

The redevelopment of the historic building is both inside and out.

On the inside the old offices are being transformed into hotel and restaurant space.

On the outside there are giant white structures being constructed that are designed to give Union Station a modern feel as Denver's new transportation hub.

"First and foremost we're a transportation facility but at the same time this is going to really become kind of the center of downtown and the new center of downtown. Bringing people to this building to enjoy it, to enjoy the great history of it, enjoy some of the great history of Colorado," said Sage Hospitality spokesman Walter Isenberg.

Amtrak service is scheduled to start up again in early 2014 with the hotel and restaurant space opening later in 2014.

Eventually a new light rail line to Denver International Airport will run out of Union Station.
