DENVER (CBS4) – A man being deported out of the country has escaped from custody at Denver International Airport.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says two officers were escorting Phoday Dumbuya when he somehow managed to run off after arriving at the airport at approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Dumbuya was supposed to return to Gambia. He was convicted of assault in 2008 in Denver.
Dumbuya is described as a black male, 6-foot-1, and weighs about 175 pounds.
