Excitement Surrounds Tryouts For ‘Amazing Race’ In Denver
DENVER (CBS4) – More than 400 people tried out for the CBS show The Amazing Race on Wednesday in Denver, and many of those in line said their hopes are boosted by the fact that there’s a Colorado pair competing in the show’s upcoming season.
Among those who lined up in pairs to audition on Thursday were Trent and Uri, a pair of male nurses who work in Denver.
“We tried to play up the nurse angle. We’re both nurses. I’ve never seen a male nurse team on The Amazing Race, so hopefully we’ll be the first one,” they said.
A new season of The Amazing Race kicks off on CBS4 Sunday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
Eleven teams are set to compete, including Colorado’s Mona Egender and Beth Bandimere, who are competitors already. They are moms from Castle Pines and Arvada who also are on a roller derby team — the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls’ 5280 Fight Club. (On the team they go by the names Triple Shot Misto and Fiona Grapple.)

Joining Bates and his brother (also a hockey player) is a team with a descendant of Daniel Boone racing with the granddaughter of John Wayne. There are also twin Ob-Gyn brothers, YouTube hosts and best friends/firefighters.
A new twist for this 22nd race around the world is the first team to check in at the first pit stop gets 2 Express Passes – one for themselves and one they must give to another team by the end of the 4th leg.
