Johnstown Police Arrest Man After Apparent Kidnapping Of Teenage Girl

JOHNSTOWN, Colo. (CBS) - Johnstown police have arrested a 38-year-old man on kidnapping charges after finding a teenage girl who was reported missing earlier this week.

David Calderon, 38, a resident of Johnstown, is at the Weld County Jail after being arrested on six charges:

- Second degree kidnapping
- False imprisonment
- Unlawful sexual contact
- Felony menacing
- Child abuse
- Assault in the third degree

Police say Calderon forcibly abducted the 16-year-old girl and held her against her will. The search for her began Tuesday after she posted on Facebook that she was with a man named Dave and she felt scared and wanted someone to call police.

Police went to the media with the story on Wednesday. About 8 a.m. Thursday police say they got a call from someone who said they knew Dave and that led officers to the girl in a home about half a mile from the police station.

Police say they found her in a home across the street from where she had been held.

CBS4 is no longer publishing the name of the teen or using her photo due to the charges in the case.
