Teen Suspect In Fort Carson Soldier's Murder To Be Tried As An Adult

FORT CARSON, Colo. (CBS4) - A 17-year-old accused of murdering a Fort Carson soldier and his wife will be charged as an adult.

Fort Carson held a memorial service Wednesday for Staff Sgt. David Dunlap and his wife, Whitney. On Thursday his casket was set to be driven by an escort from Colorado Springs to Denver International Airport and police and fire personnel were set to line up in Castle Rock to honor the fallen soldier.

The Dunlaps were shot and killed when they returned home on Jan. 14 and surprised a burglar in their home.

Macyo January now faces a murder charge as an adult and Jerel Couch, 19, has been arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to murder.
