BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (AP) – The commander of an F-16 fighter squadron at Buckley Air Force Base is getting a promotion and a new assignment.
The Colorado Air National Guard said Wednesday that Brig. Gen. Trulan Eyre is being promoted to major general and will become Air Guard adviser to the 1st Air Force effective April 7. The 1st Air Force has its headquarters at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.
At Buckley, Eyre has been commander of the Colorado Air Guard’s 140th Wing. That includes an F-16 fighter squadron that flies missions for the North American Aerospace Defense Command or NORAD.
The wing also includes support, maintenance and medical groups. It has about 2,000 personnel at Buckley.
Col. Floyd Dunstan will be promoted from wing vice commander to commander.
