COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Fort Carson and El Paso County are opening one of the largest public outdoor shooting ranges in Colorado.
Officials are holding a ceremony Wednesday to celebrate, with a special ribbon-cutting.
The complex is a joint project of Fort Carson, El Paso County, the U.S. Forest Service, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
The 400-acre site is near Interstate 25. It has seven shooting ranges for now, but there are plans to add to the complex as more funding becomes available.
Profits from the range will be used for a program that supports Fort Carson soldiers and their families.
