DENVER (AP) — Colorado Republicans are proposing outlawing abortions that are performed based on the sex of the fetus.

It’s an idea modeled after a bill that failed in Congress last year. The bill introduced in the Senate Wednesday would make it illegal to perform or force a woman to undergo an abortion based on the gender of the fetus.

The bill stands little chance of advancing in the Democratic-controlled Senate.
